A Logical Understanding of Over and Missed Diagnosis in Gifted Children

The behavioral and emotional expressions of a child’s giftedness lend themselves to being misdiagnosed. Some of the most common misdiagnoses are ADHD, ODD, OCD, short-term/working memory deficit, sensory integration deficit, central auditory processing deficit, and over-looked learning disorders. The disorders are complex and the symptoms are often secondary to asynchronous development. This lecture presents simple rule-out and rule-in methodology of these disorders from the clinical experience of the presenter. Audience participation is encouraged.
