The Journey: Supporting Your 2e Child through School and Beyond
Limited Capacity seats available

Parents of twice-exceptional children are in the unique position of having to recognize and foster high potential while at the same time recognizing and addressing impediments to achieving that potential. In this panel discussion, parents of grown-up 2e offspring will share what they think they’ve learned during their collective decades spent raising 2e children.
Panelists will cover how they addressed:
- Their recognition of twice-exceptionality, and their cognitive and emotional reactions (What do we do now? How do we feel about this whole thing?)
- Parenting issues linked to their children’s twice-exceptionality (How do we deal with intensity, willfulness, etc.?)
- Educational issues (How do we explain our child to the school? How do we work with educators to address underachievement and to ensure that the school provides both challenge and support? )
- Social-emotional, physical health, and mental health issues (Is he or she okay? If not, how do we find help?)
- The transition to adulthood (How do we cope when our child’s timeline differs from the norm: 9 years of grade school, 4 years of high school, 4 years of college?)
Finally, panelists will disclose what their offspring are doing now. Panelists will opine on what they think they did right…and what they’d do differently.
