Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

How we see children has a profound effect on how we educate them. Schools are designed to “fix” students who are achieving poorly or are misbehaving. This deficit thinking has a profound impact on recruiting, recognizing and retaining gifted students of color and/or living in poverty. Learn how to shift deficit thinking of differing behaviors toward surplus thinking about strengths for learning. Reframe hyperactivity to verve; reframe talkative to fluent verbal abilities. Make powerful changes for underserved gifted students by tapping into strengths. Participants will receive surplus thinking instructional practices and a menu of encouraging additive approaches.
