Overexcitabilities; asynchronous development; sensory sensitivities and sensory integration; and the auditory, visual, and social processing challenges often associated with gifted children can result in complex parenting situations. Uncertainty in navigating these challenges often results in conflicts between partners, stress within the family, and significant distressing behaviors in children that do not seem to respond to accepted parenting strategies.
